A new year is a clean slate for everything, including TV content. With 2024 on the horizon, it’s time to look ahead at new and returning shows to fill our watchlists accordingly. Hollywood is finally returning to normal following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and many shows have already restarted production. Others are slated to resume filming soon. This brings me to the good news: The ample amount of confirmed TV premiere dates already on the calendar for 2024.
There are a few returning favorites I'm excited to watch, including the fourth season of “True Detective: Night Country” on Max, returning in January with newly-cast Jodie Foster in a starring role. My family and I are eager for “Abbott Elementary” to return, and I’m happy to see “Will Trent” will also be back on ABC and Hulu in February.
My 2024 watchlist is already filling up with a solid array of newcomer series. In January, “Criminal Record” with Peter Capaldi drops on Apple TV+, along with Hulu’s “Death and Other Details” starring one of my favorites, Mandy Patinkin (“Criminal Minds” and “Homeland”). Harlan Coben’s “Fool Me Once” on Netflix is also on my must-watch list for January, with the limited series premiere dropping on New Year’s Day. If you know me, then you know I skew dark, and these picks look to be right up my alley.
There’s zero chance I’ll miss “Tracker,” new to CBS in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot and starring Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”). “Fallout” on Prime Video with Ella Purnell (“Yellowjackets”) and Michael Emerson (“Lost” and “Person of Interest”) is also worth a look when it drops in April. The 2024 Watch THIS Wednesday roster is off to a strong start!
Here’s a comprehensive list of new and returning TV shows set to premiere in 2024. Be sure to bookmark this page! It will be updated periodically as additional dates are confirmed.
